Quilt Pricing Information for Everyone’s Budget

Longarm quilting costs vary based on factors such as pattern type, design complexity, and quilt size. Standard designs typically range from $0.015 to $0.02 per square inch, while custom quilting ranges from $0.02 to $0.04 or more. For instance, a twin-sized quilt (70" x 90") costs approximately $95 to $126 for standard and $126 to $252 for custom quilting. Pricing may also be influenced by batting type, additional services like fabric binding, and turnaround times. Some quilters offer flat-rate pricing for specific sizes or patterns, ensuring clearer budgeting. Discuss your specific needs with your longarm quilter for a customized quote.

This is general information about how some Long Arm Quilters charge for their services. These are the things they consider when pricing out a quilt.  For Deb’s Quilt Studio pricing refer to Longarm Quilting Pricing relates to Density of desired quilting.

Per square inch:  This is the common way for longarm quilting services to be calculated is by the square inch, Rates range from $0.025 - $0.035 per square inch

Minimum charge:  Some quilters have a minimum charge for small quilts, table runners, pillow shams and table toppers.  Usually, considered a load fee.

Additional Charge:  Quilters charge for ironing, repairing seams that come unstitched, piecing quilt backs, preparing binding either for machine binding or hand sewn bindings, and bobbin usage.

Quilt Size:  Some quilters charge different rates for different quilt sizes.  You can expect King sized quilts to be at a higher rate.

Materials:  Quilters work primarily with cotton quilt tops and cotton quilt backings.  Sometimes, quilters work with cuddle or Minky fabrics for the quilt backings. Usually, there is an extra charge when working with Demin, T-shirt fabric, jersey or sweatshirt materials.   That is why, Memory Quilts will usually be charged out at a higher rate,

Rates:  Quilters don’t have standard rates.  So always, check with the quilter for what a standard edge-to-edge quilt is going to cost.  Currently rates range from $0.025 per square inch to $0.035 per square inch based on the density & intricacy of the quilting design chosen. 

Pricing falls into three categories: 

  • Budget Patterns (Simple patterns with open density) $0.02. per square inch

  • Standard Edge to Edge Medium size pattern with medium density $.025 – $.035 per square inch

  • Heavy Edge to Edge Complex pattern with heavy density $0.4 -$0.055 per square inch

Priority Rush

We do our best to provide a timeframe of when your quilt will be ready.  If you find that you need to rush an order and skip to the front of the line an additional charge of 25% of the total order will be applied.

Minimum:

  • Not all quilts are king size, that’s okay we work on all sizes even the smallest quilts. 

  • Minimum Spend:  $50.00

Specific computerized edge-to-edge quilt patterns is the most affordable option, starting at $0.02 per square inch. This offers economy longarm quilting utilizing these three patterns: Simple patterns with open density.

Standard Edge-2-edge Quilting

Computerized edge-to-edge longarm quilting services utilizing medium size patterns with medium density, starting at $0.025 to $0.035 per square inch. Memory quilts & T-Shirts fall into this category. Absolutely, no pockets, buttons, collars or embellishments on the quilt top that could damage my Statler Stitcher.

Heavy Edge-to-Edge Quilting

There are certain quilting patterns that are much more complex and time consuming to stitch than the vast majority of patterns. Typically, these take three or even four times as long to complete. These patterns require constant attention to detail, additional computer alignment and much more time to stitch. Complex patterns with heavy density, starting at $0.040 to $0.055 per square inch.
